Newsong Church of Grove

...to lift up the name of Jesus Christ as we take His gospel to the lost and forgotten...

7 Year Vision

Call to Worship: A More Expensive Worship

We believe that who we are is more important than what we do. We are focused on genuine worship of the King of Glory Jesus Christ. We rebuke traditions and the expectations of man that attempt to put worship of Jesus Christ in a box. Every worship experience is different and glorious when led by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the presence of God changes hearts, minds, and physical bodies. It is our DNA to seek His fresh presence daily and when we come together.

Psalms 84:

1 How lovely is your dwelling place,

Lord Almighty!

2 My soul yearns, even faints,

for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and my flesh cry out

for the living God.

The primary cry of our heart is to worship Jesus Christ and express love for Him, who He is, and what He has done. We are first a House of Worship.

Regional Prayer and Intercession

We fully believe that God desires to transform our county. The serious problems of drug addiction, domestic violence, child abuse, divorce and the like must first be confronted in the heavenlies through prayer and spiritual warfare. We believe that intercessory prayer changes things at a critical level for people in the region. Our prayer and intercession goals for the next seven years include:

1) promote area-wide prayer networks from all congregations to link intercessors together in unity to pray for the region as Jesus prayed for the church in John 17.

2) continue to identify demonic strongholds and pray against them including prayer walks and other on-site prayer gatherings.

Children and Families

It is essential that this generation of children become strong in their spiritual foundation. Newsong has a passion for children that it draws from the heart of God. Each child has a very particular destiny in Christ. He has prepared each one for a key place in the Kingdom of God. We are training tomorrow’s leaders in the body of Christ. We believe that is an honor and a privilege. We are committed to teach and train children and youth.

Growing Younger

It is no secret that the church in America is getting older. We can see this in our region and in our cities. We are seeing teenagers and emerging adults abandon their faith for something that the world may offer. It is our role as leaders to define reality. The church must change to effectively connect and minister to these generations. Please do not confuse that statement with watered down standards or compromised beliefs. We must change to better demonstrate the heart of God. This generation is falling away because they do not see genuineness in Christian lifestyle. The next generation is searching for a place that is genuine in its faith and worship. The spirit of religion and tradition can quench those things. Their hunger is for real worship and genuine faith.

Discipleship

Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. We are committed to the fullness of the development of people growing into their mature Christian faith. We foster this growth by small groups, practical teaching of things that apply to our lives, and one on one discipleship. We have found that a combination of these things is needed in the complete approach. Yet it all starts with the commitment to bringing people that are hungry to God. It is our heart to see people grow in God. We are all on the same journey in that respect.

Small Groups

From the inception of Newsong Church in 1995 we have believed in the ministry strategy of small groups. In small groups people learn community, learn life together and they learn ministry together. In small groups people grow in Christ together.

Regional Transformation

For the past 20 years, we have been involved in praying and interceding for this region of northeast Oklahoma. We are committed to continue. The darkness that comes into this region comes in direct opposition to the light of the gospel message of Christ. Prayer and intercession change the spiritual landscape. 2 Chronicles 20:22 says that when we worship the Lord it sets a snare for the enemy. Worship and intercession change things! We join other local church bodies that also intercede for this region. We stand together and cry out to God for His mercy and forgiveness so that the land may be healed.

Foreign Missions

Call to Missions

Missions can be defined as obeying God to advance His Kingdom. Newsong is a “missions” church. Missions is one of the cornerstones on which we were founded. Our commitment has only grown with time and it is our blessing to do and go where He leads and as He opens doors. It is what we are called to be and it is our DNA.

It is an honor to be involved in missions. It is a true honor and privilege. We have been blessed for the first 21 years of Newsong to be involved in many amazing mission efforts. We have a lot of stories, yet we know that the best is yet to come. Better days are ahead; more opportunities are ahead.

Missions is an open door for all. Many of you reading this right now have been called in your heart to serve in a mission’s capacity. Some are called to go and some are called to participate in a variety of other ways. We encourage you in this season. Respond to the call and live your faith! Missions starts next door and goes to the ends of the earth. We will definitely go next door and we will go to other nations as God leads.

We have all been clearly called to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In the next seven years, we plan to continue as God leads ministry efforts in Mexico, Cuba, Asia, Zambia, First Nations and more.

We were challenged about 15 years ago, to spend more money on missions than we spend on maintaining ourselves. Since that day this has always been a goal. Our challenge is to spend over fifty percent of tithes and offerings on missions. We have not yet reached this goal although we have seen progress. I do believe that we will see that happen in the next few years.

Newsong was also challenged by an elder of Newsong about 20 years ago, that Newsong was to raise up and send our own missionaries. This also has been our heart and our goal. We have had the amazing honor of sending full time missionaries from Newsong to several countries most recently Saudi Arabia, Zambia, Mexico, and Latvia. We have seen God do awesome and life changing things in the lives of these missionaries and in those that were touched. It is the heart of Newsong to raise up and send missionaries to the nations.

It has also been a goal that we see a mission trip per month out of our congregation. There have been several times in past years that we have seen trips that overlap and different groups are gone simultaneously. A mission trip per month is a challenging goal. It’s reachable with God.

In the recent past we have had the honor of being involved in mission trips that have focused on church planting, church building, pastors’ and leaders’ conferences, children’s ministries, orphanage and humanitarian efforts, pure evangelism, teaching and serving native pastors, and many others.

Missions experts estimate one billion new converts will come to Christ in the next decade. To handle the harvest, two million new churches will need to be started and 4000 new pastors must be trained and sent out every week. Newsong fully intends to take an active part in fulfilling the Great Commission. We expect the Great Commission to be fulfilled before the return of Christ to earth (Matthew 24:24). In recent years, God has directed us to greatly increase our missionary efforts in other parts of the world. We expect that exponential increase to continue and in the next seven years we anticipate:

1) being significantly involved in planting 50 churches around the world.
2) being significantly involved in planting 5 Bible Schools in other countries.
3) within a few years to average one foreign mission trip each month.
4) to be supporting 4 full-time foreign missionaries from Newsong.
5) to commit to reach at least 2 more unreached people groups (we are already working with one).
6) We fully expect these efforts will result in Newsong being responsible for presenting the gospel to over 100,000 people, many whom have never heard the message of Christ.

Mexico Missions

Our first trip to Mexico was in 1998, the third year of the then young Newsong Church. We went to the small village named Zapata and built a church building. We fell in love with the precious and generous people of Mexico. They are giving, loving, and joyful. We went with the idea that we would be giving and the reality is that we received much more than we could have ever given.

In the past 18 years, we have made countless trips to these precious people. We have had the honor of meeting and serving with many pastors, leaders, and congregations in Mexico. The church in Mexico is hungry for the spirit of God, they are hungry for true and genuine relationship. We have enjoyed favor and blessing in many places in the country. God has put this nation in our hearts and we are blessed with significant relationships.

Cuba Missions

Newsong’s mission involvement in Cuba began in 1999. It was one of our first foreign mission efforts and has grown steadily over the past 18 years. Our video based International Schools of Ministry have graduated over 200 young men and women trained for gospel ministry. Most of them are now working as pastors, church planters, and church leaders. The future of our work there depends upon the future of the Communist government. If the government continues to oppress the church and prohibit Bible school buildings, we plan to continue to provide education and training to future leaders of the church in Cuba. We currently operate eight schools in the central and eastern parts of Cuba. Four of those schools were taken into the island in 2016.

We anticipate at least 50 graduates in 2017 and could easily see that number double the following year. We will typically take at least one trip to Cuba annually to help facilitate these schools and celebrate the graduation of students.

Green Forest School & Orphanage

Newsong’s involvement with Zambia started about 12 years ago when we heard the call to the orphan crisis in Africa. Through relationships God led us to Martha Bwalya in Mufulira, Zambia. Martha had a vision for a school and orphanage to address the growing need. Newsong came under that vision and we saw the birth of Green Forest School and Orphanage (GFSO)in Mufulira, Zambia. A home was purchased, remodeled and staff was hired. GFSO opened in 2012 and is the home to several precious children that have been abandoned.

The need in the area is great. The capacity of GFSO is a small drop in a huge bucket of need for the abandoned children of the area. In the next 7 years, we are expecting to see major growth in the capacity of GFSO. We are also expecting to see the realization of a school that will educate not only GFSO children but many other area children as well.

First Nations

The First Nations of these United States are so very precious. Newsong started involvement with the Cherokee Nation in the southwestern part of Delaware County in Kenwood. We have seen that area grow in spirit and in maturity. In recent years, we have been connected to the Sioux Nation in South Dakota and the Navajo Nation in Arizona and in Utah. Our founding pastors, Steve and Cindi Dyer are currently serving this nation in Utah. We have seen the heart of these precious people, pastors, and leaders. The cultural lines have and continue to fade with each connection, phone call, mission trip and visit. With every step, we seem to become closer in heart and in spirit. We believe that we are to one. The First Nations have had amazing words of prophecy spoken over them and we believe them and work with them to see them realized. The summary of those words is that the next great awakening of these United States will begin in the First Nations and spread to there. We are connected with the First Nations by the blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:14).

Unreached People Groups

It was 16 years ago, that God directed us to pray and pursue an unreached people group somewhere in the world for the first time. That is how we started in Northern Asia in 2001. Our heart was simply to take the name and the message of Jesus to a people group that had never heard. We took the gospel message and the Jesus film to our chosen area and people group over the course of several visits and several years. We were welcomed, loved, and honored. God allowed us to connect with so many beautiful people. We saw conversions for Christ and we saw the seed of Christianity planted in the region that God had put on our hearts. Through our current connection with the church in Asia we now see clearly that the message of Christ is spreading by native leaders to that region. Our mission in that introductory phase is complete. If we connect and make future contributions to that region they will most likely be in the areas of leadership connections or to satisfy ministry supply needs. In short, what we prayed for is happening. Native people are carrying the message of Christ to their own people. In the next seven years, we will continue the calling to reach unreached people groups with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will gather, pray, fast, and seek God for His perfect direction, location, and timing. We will go to where we have never been, we will meet whom we have never met, and we will tell those that have never been told about the amazing love of our beautiful Savior. We will tell them about the life changing power of the love of God. We will most likely go many times and it will cover a significant period. It will cost an amount of money not known and it will require considerable personal sacrifice, yet none of those things compare to the value of eternal life for an entire ethnic nation. The mission is to carry hope to where there is no hope. This call is a fundamental part of who we are as a body in this next season. As you read this I ask you to pray, “How am I to be a part of this?”
